     Helena Ann McPherson, 56, passed away Saturday, Oct. 8 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio after courageously battling breast cancer. She was born in Highland Park, MI on July 19, 1955 to Macle and Ernest Bachand. On Dec. 24, 1975 she married her best friend and soul mate Ronald E. McPherson. Helena was a passionate social worker at the Department of Human Services, where she devoted her life to helping families in need. She cherished time spent with family and friends and enjoyed reading, knitting, fitness, and volunteering for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Many people described her as being the nicest person they had ever met. She is survived by her husband Ron, son Joshua, daughter-in-law Mindy, daughter Rebekah, and son-in-law Bret Ingraham. Helena was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Arthur (“Bucky”). Just like she lived, Helena wanted a celebration in place of a standard funeral. A casual “celebration of life” will be held at the Ward Pavilion at Wildwood Metropark in Toledo, OH on Sunday, Oct. 23 from noon to 4 p.m. A picnic lunch will be served. In lieu of flowers, loved ones are asked to make a memorial donation. Helena strongly supported Susan G. Komen of Northwest Ohio but she would have wanted you to donate to a charity of your choice.
